Ephemera

A pamphlet designed for the installation Display Window at the Design Museum of Chicago, where the text and printing specifications translate the site and material properties in miniature, published in 2023

Ephemera is a pamphlet that transforms the space of a triangular gallery into a miniature paper model as it opens up. Display Window is a site specific installation positioned inside and on the museum’s existing glass façade, which is covered in vinyl signage announcing the building’s multiple tenants. The pamphlet contrasts a similarly dense, outer face of text with an empty interior proportioned to the space of the atrium gallery. The installation’s re-framed window and dark vinyl translate into the pamphlet’s interior glow, illuminated by an aligned recto verso void, reflected across a sheet of black toner.
