Wynwood Park

A competition entry for a park in Miami by SO−IL, where intersecting screens produce a variety of playful landscapes, awarded third place in 2014

Wynwood Park draws from sensorial experiences in natural and artificial landscapes, embracing permanent and temporary architectural elements to encourage play. The park is nestled in the Wynwood Art District on a 14,000 square foot lot. Intersecting fabric screens are laid upon hardscape and softscape to define smaller, blurry pockets of space for cozy meetings as well as open areas for gathering. Different user groups discover a dense, tropical environment or lay beneath a field of palm trees reaching toward the sky. This work reflects the competition entry research and submission materials, including the conceptual development, landscaping and estimate proposal and material studies.
